The hardware of our the lightning detection system consists of three components.
  * **[[en:hardware:antennas|Antenna System]]:** The VLF-signals are received by wide-band H-field or E-field antennas
  * **[[en:hardware:red:amplifier|Amplifier]]:** A wide-band VLF-amplifier amplifies the antenna signal such that it can be further processed and analyzed.
  * **[[en:hardware:controller|Controller]]:** The controller digitize the signals and send them together with the reception time and reception location to our server.

The current hardware is called [[en:hardware:blue|System BLUE]]. The first version of RED PCBs has been shipped to
participants in FIXME (year and month of shipment?).

The previous hardware is called [[en:hardware:red|System RED]]. The first version of RED PCBs has been shipped to
participants in July 2013. It has several advantages compared to the former [[en:hardware:green|System GREEN]] hardware.

The colors are simply for easier distinction between the systems. See FIXME (add link) for a comparison between old
and new system.
